Tommie 'Pulley' Wallace

Obituary Tommie "Pulley" Wallace, 73, of North River, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at home. Mr. Wallace worked for many years at Safrits Building Supply and for Open Grounds Farm, Inc as a cowboy and rancher. He was known as the "Mayor of North River" and loved western movies, football, wrestling, boxing and car racing. His love of racing occasionally found him needing pulled out of a ditch and earning him the nickname Pulley. He had a great affectionate laugh and a great sense of humor like Fred G. Sanfords of the TV show, Sanford and Son. He was a "taxi driver" for many who needed a ride. He loved his family and friends. Mr. Wallace was a great listener and wonderful father and will be missed and remembered by many. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, March 30, 2018 at Faith Tabernacle of Praise Church with Bishop Donald M. Crooms Sr of FTOP Church and Pastor Lemuel D. Eaton of Chesapeake, VA officiating. Burial will follow at Faith Tabernacle of Praise Church Cemetery located on Merrimon Rd. Mr. Wallace is survived by his mother, Olivia Taylor of North River; daughter, Cynthia M. and her husband Vincent A. Johnson of Lawrenceville, Ga; grandson, Christian X. Johnson of Lawrenceville, GA; granddaughter, Cameron A. Johnson of Lawrenceville, GA; brothers, William and his wife Margaret Simmons of North River; Hubert and his wife Lorraine Wallace of Morgan City, LA; Claude and his wife Hilda Wallace of North River; Frizzelle and his wife Carmella Wallace of Beaufort; Jeffery Taylor of Morehead City; sisters, Betty Ann Moore of Havelock; Judy Ann Dore of Virginia Beach; Kathleen McDonald and her husband Curtis of North River; daughter in Christ, Mary Ann Monroe (John); special friends, Kenny Murrell; Don Murray; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Mr. Wallace was preceded in death by his companion of forty-four years, Ellen M. Murray; daughter, Marquita L. Murray; father, Claude Wallace; and siblings, James Collins; Juanita Simmons. A visitation will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Faith Tabernacle of Praise Church in Beaufort.
