Obituary Valerie Davis-Hernandez was born September 11, 1965 in Morehead City to Janie L. Davis and Melvin Davis. She departed this life on Sunday, January 24, 2021. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 29, 2021 at Bridgeway Church with Rev. Vera Price officiating. The family will receive friends at the church the hour prior to the service. She worked at the Carteret Nursing home as a Nurses Assistant where she be-friended families of the facility. She became a visual story teller giving life to the past and future. She never met a stranger and always was willing to lend a hand to those in need. She loved God and joined Reels Chapel of Merrimon, NC. Music and Dancing was her favorite, most loved past time. Valerie gave her best in all that she did. Her love for her mother was undeniable and always visible to all who knew her. She leaves to cherish their memories mother, Janie L. Davis, of Beaufort, father, Melvin Davis of Merrimon; brother, Melvin Dunn of Morehead City; sister, La Bertha Ellison of Beaufort; grandmother, Gertrude Reels, grandfather, Mark Davis of Merrimon; aunts, Evelyn Wallace, Bessie Jones, and Mamie Ellison of Beaufort NC; uncles, Leroy Reels, Billy Reels, and Licurtis Reels all of Merrimon; special cousin, Bettie Spell of Morehead City; cousins, Evelyn Nolon, Harriett Ames, Thelma Dixon, Jacqueline Garrison, Jack Garrison, Miquel Garrison, Clarissa Bell, Terrence Thompson, and Henry George, a very special friend, Tonya Gillin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
