Vera Wetherington

Vera Loftin Wetherington, 82, of Beaufort, passed away Thursday September 17, 2015 at her home in Beaufort. Mrs. Wetherington was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Beaufort where she also served as the nursery director. For many years her efforts were focused on the Mail-Me-Monday Bookkeeping Tax Service, a business started by her mother that was later closed to go to work at Hamiltons Furniture of Beaufort. She was a member of the Beaufort Womans Club, Beaufort Garden Club and Carteret County Historical Society. A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday at First Baptist Church of Beaufort with Rev. Michael Fields officiating. She is survived by her three sons, Thurman Brister of Beaufort; Allison Brister and wife, Teresa of Beaufort; John Gimple and wife, Anita of Denver, CO; four daughters, Miriam Hamilton and husband, Bill of Beaufort; Janet Courtney and husband, Ray of Beaufort; Gayle Hill and husband, Rick of Beaufort; Jonas Acree of Sedona, AZ. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Martha Loftin; three brothers, Bill Loftin Jr., Bryan Loftin and Giles Loftin.
