Verlyn Walfred Johnson

Obituary Verlyn W. Johnson, 81, of Newport, passed away Monday, February 5, 2018 at Crystal Bluffs Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Mr. Johnson served in both the National Guard and the US Army. He was dedicated to his work with the space program with NASA and JPL. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 with Pastor Marion Bell-Hill officiating at Bridgeway Church in Beaufort. He is survived by his significant other, Rosemary Ruff of Newport; two sons, Mark V. Johnson and wife, Cynthia of Newport; Michael A. Johnson of Newport; daughter, Beverly Davis of Georgia; five grandchildren, Adeline Johnson of Newport; Michael Johnson Jr. of Florida; Stacey Johnson of Newport; Carlotta Johnson of Minnesota; Jay Hodkin of Dayton, OH; brother, Larry Johnson of Florida; two sisters, Ilene Robley of Minnesota; Marlis Robley of Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walfred and Martha Johnson; wife, Adeline Johnson; son, Scott Johnson.
