Vicki Elaine Bennett

Obituary Vicki Elaine (Denning) Bennett, 66, of Murrells Inlet, SC, formerly of Morehead City, passed peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, January 2, 2022 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC. Vicki was born on March 2, 1955 at the old Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC. She was raised in Raleigh and graduated Enloe High School in 1973. In her teens, she worked at several mall anchor stores as a model. In her 20s she worked as a waitress at the Embers Club in Raleigh where she met her husband of 45 years John Grady Bennett. They were married on the rock jetty at Fort Macon. Following their marriage, they moved to Morehead City where she was employed at the Darden Law Firm and John worked at Fort Macon Marina. They returned to Raleigh and Vicki helped care for her mother-in-law during until her passing. Vicki and John owned and operated a successful X-Ray medical equipment business in Raleigh for many years. Vicki survived cancer and a heart attack in her 40s. In her 50s she suffered a stroke that placed her in nursing care. She retained her mind until the last weeks of her life. She was a beautiful, compassionate lady who loved her family dearly and would often sacrifice her desires to help make someone elses come true. She loved her dogs, flowers, old movies, love stories, and most important her family both immediate and extended. She never met a stranger and always focused on the good in everyone she would meet. Vicki is survived by her husband, John Bennett, Murrells Inlet, SC; step-son, Ashley Bennett; her brother Rich Denning and wife Teresa, Lynchburg, VA; nieces, nephews, and many dear cousins. She is preceded in death by her mother, Phyllis "Pat" Oneiz (Bowden) Denning; her father, Arthur Randle Denning; and her step-mother, Joyce "Jody" Ainley Denning.
