Wayne Collins Willis

Obituary Wayne Collins Willis, 78, of Harkers Island, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020 at Carteret Health Care of Morehead City. Wayne was born in Arapahoe, NC on September 30, 1942. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday at Vergie Mae Cemetery on Harkers Island with Rev. Twila Nelson officiating. Wayne retired from the US Coast Guard on May 1, 1981 with over 20 years of service as a Chief Radioman. Wayne later retired from the Alaska Highway Patrol. He is survived by his sisters, Debra K. Rose and husband, Manley Rose Sr. of Harkers Island; Patricia Suzette Guthrie and husband, Larry of Harkers Island; Judy Simmons and husband, Robert of Newport; brother, Bobby Taylor and wife, Jennifer of Straits and many nieces and nephews and cousins. Wayne was preceded in death by his son, Wayne C. Willis Jr. His father, Walter Collins Willis and Stepmother, Minnie Evelyn Willis.
