William "Bill" Hughes

William Richard Hughes, known affectionately as Bill, passed away on September 13, 2024, at the age of 74 in Harkers Island, North Carolina. Born on June 24, 1950, in New Jersey, he spent his formative years there before making North Carolina his home.

A memorial service will be held at 5:30 PM on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Refuge Fellowship Church on Harkers Island with Pastor Manley Rose officiating. 

Bill is survived by a loving family, including his stepdaughter, Helena, and her husband, Matt Willis, along with their children, Skyler and Patrick. His granddaughter, Nicole, her husband, Jaime, and their daughter, Julishia Hughes, all from Pennsylvania, will cherish his memory, as will his grandson, Ronald, and his wife, Kaitlyn Hughes, of Pennsylvania. Bill's sister, Marilyn, and her husband, Peter, of North Carolina, remain to honor his legacy. He will also be remembered by his niece, Noelle Craig, of Pennsylvania. Additionally, Betty Jane and Ronnie of Pennsylvania hold dear memories of Bill. Uncle Izzy of New York and many more grand children / great grand children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Matilda and Llewelyn Hughes; his wife, Ila Hughes; his grandson, Christopher Hughes; and his great-granddaughter, Paisley.

Bill's life was marked by his warm presence and the deep bonds he formed with his family and friends. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
