Yates Milton

Obituary Yates Milton, 83, of Newport, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018 at home surrounded by his family. Mr. Milton served in the National Guard and worked for OSHA for many years. He was a member of the Shriners and the Masons. He had a passion for antique cars. He restored many antique cars, was a member of many antique auto clubs; and started the Durant Motors Automobile Club. A funeral service will be held at 1:00PM on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Glad Tidings Church in Morehead City with Pastor Tim Marriner officiating. Interment will follow at Amariah Garner Memorial Cemetery in Newport. The family will receive friends the hour prior to the service at the church. Mr. Milton is survived by his wife of 61 years, Doris Milton of Newport; son, Michael Milton and wife, Belinda of Newport; daughter, Cyndee Milton of Newport; step-grandchildren, Kathryn Lupton of Newport; Guy Lupton of Bettie; brother, Hugh McCrae Milton and wife, Billie of Wilmington; niece, Pam Milton of Columbia, SC; Ruth Ann Bradley of Wilmington; nephew, Stuart Milton of Southport; and special friend of the family, Glenn Poole. Mr. Milton was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Ruth Milton; brother, Charles "Rudy" Milton; nephew, Charles Milton Jr.; and nephew, Carl Milton.
